Maple Falls: Murder Mystery
Privacy Policy
keep both in sync).
Maple Falls: Murder Mystery ("the game") is made by Saikaizen Innovations ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the game handles, why, and the choices you have. It covers the Android app distributed through Google Play.
The short version
- No account, no sign-up, no login. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, or precise location.
- Your progress is saved on your device.
- The game shows ads through Google AdMob. Google and its partners use your device's advertising ID and some device and usage information to serve and measure ads. Where the law requires it (for example in the EEA, UK and Switzerland), we ask for your consent first, and you can change your choice in Settings → Ad privacy.
- Purchases go through Google Play Billing. We never see your card or payment details.
- The game is meant for players aged 16 and over and is not directed at children.
1. Information stored on your device
The game keeps the following only on your device: case progress, stars, evidence found, story choices, in-game currency (coins, gems, coffee, hints), settings (sound, language, accessibility, notifications), achievements, and the list of purchases you own. We do not receive this data. Android may include it in your device's own Google backup if you have backups switched on (that is Google's service, under your Google account settings). Uninstalling the game or clearing its storage deletes it.
2. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The game is free and paid for by ads: rewarded videos you choose to watch, short interstitial ads between scenes, and a banner on the case map. Ads are served by Google AdMob (Google LLC / Google Ireland Ltd).
To show ads, measure them and prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects and processes:
- the advertising ID (Android's resettable ID for ads) and the app set ID;
- device information (model, operating system, language, screen size), the app's name and version;
- approximate location derived from your IP address;
- ad interactions (which ads were shown, viewed or tapped) and diagnostic data about ad performance.
Consent. On first launch, and whenever required, the game shows Google's consent message (Google User Messaging Platform, certified under the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework). If you are in a region where consent is required and you do not give it, Google serves only non-personalised or limited ads. You can change your choice any time in Settings → Ad privacy (shown where the law requires it).
Your controls. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your Android settings (Settings → Google → Ads, or Settings → Privacy → Ads, depending on your device).
How Google uses this information: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites and https://policies.google.com/privacy.
VIP members see no interstitial or banner ads. Rewarded videos stay optional.
3. Purchases (Google Play Billing)
Optional in-game purchases (gem, coffee and hint packs, the Starter Pack, Case Pass, Season Pass and the VIP subscription) are processed by Google Play. Google handles your payment details under the Google Payments privacy notice; we do not receive them. The game receives a purchase confirmation (product, order id, purchase token and time) so it can deliver what you bought and restore it later.
If we switch on server-side purchase checks, the game sends that purchase confirmation (product id, order id, purchase token, time, platform) to our verification server only to confirm the purchase is genuine and to prevent fraud. It is not linked to your name or any account, and is kept only as long as needed for that purpose and for our accounting and legal obligations.
Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in Google Play (Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions).
4. Notifications
Reminders (for example "your coffee is full" or "a new case is out") are off unless you turn them on. They are scheduled on your device; we do not run a push-notification server and do not receive any device token. You can switch them off in the game's Settings or in Android's notification settings.
5. Game content and settings from our servers
The game may download game settings (for example ad frequency and energy timers) and new case files from our content server or CDN. These requests contain no personal information, but like any web request they reveal your IP address and basic device information to the server host, which may keep them in short-lived security logs.
6. Other Google Play features
- Ratings: the game may ask you to rate it using Google Play's in-app review dialog. Google handles this.
- Updates: the game may use Google Play's in-app update feature to tell you about a new version.
- Sharing: if you share a case result, Android's share sheet sends only the text or image you choose to the app you pick.
7. Analytics and crash reports
The current version does not include a third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK. Gameplay events are only logged on your device for debugging. If we add such a service, we will update this policy and the Google Play Data safety section first.
8. Children
The game is a murder-mystery story for players aged 16 and over (rated Teen / PEGI 16 type content: crime themes, references to violence and blood). It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the game, contact us and we will help remove it.
9. Legal bases (EEA / UK users)
- Consent for personalised advertising and the related use of cookies or identifiers (via the consent message).
- Legitimate interests for non-personalised ads, fraud prevention and keeping the game secure.
- Contract for delivering purchases you make.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising. Because we do not hold an account or profile for you, most data lives on your device or with Google. For data processed by Google for ads, use the controls above or Google's tools at https://myaccount.google.com. For anything else, email us. We do not sell your personal information for money. California residents: refusing consent or opting out of personalised ads (see section 2) stops "sharing" for cross-context behavioural advertising.
11. Security and retention
Network requests use encrypted connections (HTTPS). Data on your device stays until you delete the game or its data. Advertising data is kept by Google according to its own retention policies.
12. International transfers
Google and our hosting providers may process data in the United States and other countries, with safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
13. Changes
We will post any changes here and update the effective date. Significant changes will also be announced in the game.
